Precast beam girders like U-beams, T-beams, and I-beams, among others, are built using the span-by-span process and a beam launcher. This is made up mostly of the following: the main beam, the cantilever beam, the under guide beam, the front and back support legs, the auxiliary outrigger, the hanging beam crane, the jib crane, and the electro-hydraulic system. HL-Kattor’s design caters to all construction aspects including picking up/erection of the precast concrete beam: from the rear end of the beam launcher on the deck level, From below ground level, and From the bridge side.
There are two types of beam launchers manufactured by HL-Kattor: single Box beam launchers and twin-truss beam launchers. The single-box beam launcher type is a special design for erecting railway T-beams. Generally more efficient and lighter in weight and is perfect for erecting precast beams on tight horizontal alignments as well as for lifting beams from the sides of the bridge. Twin-truss beam launchers are commonly used to lift the precast beams into place, especially used worldwide
The precast beams are delivered with a beam trolley on top of the completed deck to the rear of the beam launcher, which is subsequently picked up and placed in the final position by the beam launcher.
